Going in, I was fully aware that this manga was full of Nightmare Fuel. I expected it. I wanted to see blood and gore and Body Horror. What I didn't expect, was how disturbingly sexual it was (for example, children being punished by being stripped naked) or the creepy focus on body fluids. It was Squicky and jarring and definitely something I would've preferred to go without.
Also, thanks to our protagonist being way too chipper, the overall mood is much less gloomy than one would expect from such crapsack setting. I'm still undecided on whether this is a good or a bad thing.
All in all, reading this manga was interesting enough, but it wasn't what I wanted and I'm not planning to re-read it any time soon.
