King Kong was a great movie and I had a wonderful time seeing it in theaters back on Christmas Day 2005 - I saw it December 25th, 2005 at around 1:40 PM (or was it 2 PM?)
I admired the hard work that WETA Digital and Peter Jackson put into truly making King Kong's remake worthy of having at least visual and effects-wise improvement over the 1933 ancient original.
Though the movie's main flaw is the lack of pace and not being able to go quick. I do have to admit that I admired the dinosaur scenes, Kong rampaging through New York and the airplane fight on the Empire State Building going on for a long time because those were eye candy and special effects show-offs. Though I thought it took too long for the humans to get to Skull Island (like 1 hour?), especially the scenes where they were on the boat and Jack just spelling out the island's name slowly on his typewriter.
Film Entertaining and has meticulously well-designed CGI and special effects, but goes on for too long
