Comments: This is a fanfic that really successfully captures the environment and characters of 9 despite being an AU focused heavily on romantic relationships (and the relationships we end up with are not the same ones we start with, so to reveal them would be spoilery, just as a fair warning though they do include homosexuality). All of the characters, are, at their core, exactly who the stitchpunks would be if they were human teenagers, with just enough difference to be believable and work with the plot. The fic even works very well with capturing the bleak, dreary, post-apocalyptic feel of the film, taking place in a lower-to-middle-class suburb that is very sparsely populated apart from the main characters, and most of the main cast suffer from some physical or mental issue that mirrors their design or characterization from the film, along with their struggles with dysfunctional relationships that make up the main plot. The drama gets a little bit soapy near the end, but it remains a strong, powerful story that's not too short on humor either.
