The author of this fic has really done her homework. Adrien is literally part cat, but that's not just a different spin on being Chat Noir; it's a very dangerous heritage, leaving him stuck in between the human and fae worlds. The Masquerade is present in full force; humans who learn about the fae can expect to die or disappear to even worse fates. Or humans who offend them. Or who simply catch their interest and aren't adequately protected. The fae like shiny new things, and will throw them away (eg feeding them to a kelpie) as soon as they get boring.
This all combines to make a fic with plenty of darkness in it. The counterbalance is the extensive friendship scenes between Marinette, Adrien, and Adrien's twin brother Felix. The bakery becomes the boys' anchor, helping them to stay more human and resist the temptations of the faerie world, while at the same time, their presence puts the Dupain-Chengs in danger of attracting the fair folk's attention. Felix's deadpan humor and endless pragmatism are great fun to read, and an important stabilising force in Adrien's life, while Marinette's parents finally provide a loving home environment.
The plot really thickens once canon begins, with some events being derailed by the year of existing friendship and the presence of the fae, while others proceed normally, and yet others are thoroughly reinterpreted; Chloe, for example, is another half-breed, with Sabrina her captured selkie. The kwamis are aware of the fae and not well disposed toward them, making Adrien's status complicated, and the fae are not happy about the amount of magic on public display (although they're not averse to using akumas as a cover for their own predations).
All in all, this is a very long and complex tale, not at all complete, but very actively updated.
