This is probably one of the finest fanfics I've ever read.
The author gives us the characters of Mai-HiME in a Victorian setting, while also making references and allusions to other works besides just Holmes.
Shizuru stands in for Holmes, and gives us a strange and compelling blend of Shizuru's playful teasing and the warmth and charisma of Basil Rathborne's Holmes.
Natsuki is our narrator, substituting for Watson, with more her backstory than the original Doctor of Doyle's world, but with a skill set and determination closer to Martin Freeman's Watson than Nigel Bruce, while Mrs. Hudson, while still under that name, is clearly Midori in all but name.
There are twists and turns, like any good mystery, and it's a fun and spirited read.
