By itself, I found the idea of Harry interacting with the Horcrux inside of him and slowly turning batshit insane and evil, to the point that he actually joins Voldemort, to be interesting and compelling.
And then the story goes from interesting to just plain silly. Voldemort is the good guy, despite still acting like his genocidal madman canon self. Harry falls in love with him. And Voldemort reciprocates. Harry, a 14 year old boy, enters into a romantic, sexually active relationship with a 70 year old man. With very frequent and graphic sex scenes.
And while I would normally chalk that up as a crack ship, the story itself takes it and everything else way too serious, for the sheer absurdity of its writing.
So yeah, a compelling idea turned completely silly, through a convoluted attempt at turning Voldemort into a good guy and Harry's gay lover.
I recommend it as an unintentional comedy, but not as a Dark!Harry fic you should take serious.
FanFic A compelling idea gone completely batshit
