My favorite thing about this story is the amazing plot. Joey Wheeler ends up dead, and with nothing better to do, he haunts Seto Kaiba while trying to make sense of his un-life. The story is rife with both humor and pathos, and Joey's increasing panic when he realizes he may not have much time left is very affecting—as are the lengths everyone goes to help him.
The romance (Joey/Seto) is also very good, which surprised me! It justifies why/how it would happen, their characterizations remain accurate, and they don't go straight from 'I hate you' to falling all over each other. It's a very gradual process, there is no explicit content, and the romance aspect takes a backseat to the amazing plot and characterization.
And I especially love Joey's voice. I swear D. Draggy either wrote for 4Kids, is secretly Joey in real life, or watched so much Yu-Gi-Oh they may as well be Joey in real life. The first time I read it, my own internal voice was replaced with Joey's because of this fic.
Overall, the fic is hilarious, awesome, heartwarming, and has really epic moments and plot twists toward the end—one twist in particular was so well-done I went "OOOOOOH!" out loud when reading it. In short, it's awesome. I recommended it to people who didn't the pairing and they liked it, too! (I'm not a big fan of Joey/Seto either, but this is the exception because it's just that good.)
FanFic As close as you'll get to a perfect story.
