I saw this page and, as a huge fan of My Hero Academia and the Original Character's namesake, decided to check out the fic. It's awful. Izuku and Coyote are pretentious jerkasses who believe they're better than everyone else. All they do is lecture people on how they quote unquote "should" be acting. In fact, they lecture everyone from pro heroes to their fellow students because they are so knowledgeable on everything to do with Quirks and everything they think is correct. If you think they're wrong? You deserve to be fired, you evil prick. Every character is demeaned except Izuku and Coyote, just so our morally superior duo can tell them they're stupid. They even lecture All Might. All Might isn't good enough for these brats. He saved their lives yet all they do is lecture lecture lecture. It's disgusting. I hope Izuku and Coyote get taste of their own medicine and get raked over the coals for their self-absorbed attitudes because they are the worst, but I'm not reading on to find out. I wanted to slap them both for being so disrespectful to every other character. And don't get me started on poor Aizawa. If you ever want to see textbook examples of Designated Hero, Protagonist-Centered Morality, character assassination, and, dare I say it, Izuku the Pure and Innocent and Intelligent and Flawless and Can-Do-No-Wrong Mary Sue (Oh yeah, I'm going there), read this— HA HA HA— No. I can't even joke about reading it. Do not read this. This is the kind of fanfiction that gives fanfiction a bad rep. It spends all its time showing how Coyote and Izuku make things "better" than canon but does the exact opposite. The supposed "fixes" turn the characters into jerkasses. I haven't seen protagonists this unlikable and self-absorbed in a long time. Could someone put them in their place and expel them, please?
Another fanfic I have mixed feelings towards but lean towards liking.
What I enjoy: Coyote is a great character with a fun Quirk. He has the right amount of Crazy Awesome befitting the character he's named after without going overboard and turning into a cartoon. Coyote's Quirk is fun, fitting of his personality and has a good power balance. The friendship between him and Izuku is heartwarming. I'm really invested in it, which is surprising since I'm usually meh towards OCs. Izuku is adorkable and he deserves the best friend ever, which he gets in Coyote. The author balances Izuku's confidence and lack of confidence very well. It makes sense that Izuku is more confident in some ways but also that he's even more paranoid than in canon: he's been in an "everyone at school is out to get you" kind of environment for years. That balance of character is fascinating. Although I disagree with what led to it, the twist of 1-A dropping out because of Aizawa is shocking, and opens up unique story possibilities. It's cool to see 1-A and B in the same class. Their interactions are enjoyable, and having Vlad as a homeroom teacher allows for some new interactions between students and teacher. I love seeing 1-B without competitiveness getting in the way. It makes 1-B seem more like characters and less like obstacles or threats. It also lets more characters shine. Most characters are in-character, which is another plus. The writing is pretty basic at first, though it improves rapidly so that's good.
What I don't enjoy: Aizawa is completely Ron the Death Eatered with an entire chapter dedicated to characters telling him he's awful. I'm both eager for and dreading what the fic is going to do with Bakugo because I have a feeling the story is going to ignore how Bakugo genuinely wants to become a hero and just make him a jerk. However, I do want Bakugo to have some comeuppance for his bullying so I'm conflicted. The fic also falls into the fanfic clichés of "If you disagree with the MC, you are an irredeemably bad person and must be humiliated/punished." and "Izuku is so smart he blows everyone's minds by telling them how to better use their Quirks, even people far his senior who should know how their Quirks work after decades of using them". Most egregious example: the author changed how Momo's Quirk works so Izuku can tell her she's wrong. It's a bit annoying though not as bad as some examples because Izuku is still in-character and he's not malicious, unlike in some fics. So it's bearable.
Overall, read this one if you love fics with good friendships at its core. Skip it if: you dislike stories with a major OC, really like Aizawa, or dislike fics where if you are mean to the MC you're evil.
