Big Words. Little Content.

I used to like Spectrum Pulse... But over the time the chinks in Mark's armor have become bigger and bigger to the point where I can hardly ignore them. I'll simply list my two biggest problems with him from biggest to smallest.

1: Hard to understand. Mark is clearly very well read, and educated, there's nothing wrong with that per say, my issue is that during his reviews he can make a lot of references, and use terminology that can make his logic hard to follow, especially if you're not that familiar with the bands, scenes, or pop culture items he references... He also uses a lot of big words, and terms that the average person would not know often requiring multiple listens and research to understand what he is talking about.

2: He can contradict himself at times. Admittingly I admit my own example of this comes from his cameo on another Channel, but hear me out. In 2019 he appeared in a Crash Thompson (Or Rock Critic as he was known at the time's) Worst Pitchfork Reviews video. There he takes Pitchfork to task for attacking the fanbase as well as the music itself of a certain artist, a fair point, and one worth pointing out... My problem is just two years prior on his own channel he described the fanbase for AJR as "People with no taste, or braincells to split between them." which makes him come off as a hypocrite to me.

All in all he has a couple flaws that make it hard for me to support him anymore. I'm not trying to say his content is bad. It's just no longer for me.

Note: In hindsight I think it\'s possible my hidden comments were courtesy of youtube itself rather than Mark directly. I have since deleted my complaint about that from my review because I no longer feel comfortable accusing him of something I have no proof he actually did. I apologize it took me so long to finally edit that out of the review.
