This story is your average Saturday Morning Cartoon: Kitschy, Corny, rather silly and nonsensical, and a whole lot more wild when it came to the supernatural. But being a low budget children's cartoon in the 1980's, and everything it entails, years later a young lady (myself) born at the turn of hte millennium finds it online and loves it. The animation isn't good, but it's not subpar enough to distract from the show. The stories are short, and like I said above, silly and nonsensical, but fun. The writers were very wise to realize that if you cannot do much with a story, at the very least, you should not make a story boring. And aside from a few episodes where they went with a bare-bones "monster chase" Scrappy's role in often getting the gang into the conflict was a double-edged sword. Because Scrappy's so outgoing, adventurous, he's the natural pick to get the gang into trouble. On one hand, this is good, because it adds a character driven element, on the other hand, they tended to overuse this, which is why some people don't like Scrappy. I like Scrappy, but it got to be much.
What I truly loved about the series was Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy's bond. With Velma, Fred, and Daphne gone, the lesser developed characters, their characters had the chance to shine. It was a good series with some pretty whacky moments, but whacky can sometimes mean very interesting. It's pretty fun.
