Let the franchise die. Kill it, if you have to

First of all, I need to point out that I did have really high expectations for the movie, especially after all the response of critics, that were exploding from amusement and... subverted. However, I cannot say that the movie is bad in everything. What was great: Special effects and visual picture on the whole. Work of people responsible for these parts of such a big project, was incredibly done. Music was suitable in each moment - epic, sad, tragic ones.

What was terrible: 1. Trying to satisfy all the groups of minorities, that is why the character of Rose was included. Moreover, at the end of the movie, 2 white handsome men remain evil, and what we have on the side of "light"? Not trying to seem racist or so, but here we see - national minorities, "strong and independent women" (shown, by the way, clumsily shown). Coincidence? No way, just politically correct. 2. Hux. The person who was shown in TFA as a mixture of Thrawn and Tarkin characters experienced a decay. No, the Poe`s joke wasn`t funny, especially when someone knows Hux`s story. This decay was exactly on purpose - in order to make Kylo look better. 3. Excessively enforced compassion for some characters. Why should I feel compassion for resistance? For Paige? I barely know her, although I feel pity for the Dreadnought stuff. Why should I feel sorry for Rose, for Finn, Rey? Finn is a traitor, who just found himself new 'masters' and murders for them. Poe is fanatic and reflects all the un-saint nature of the Resistance. 4. Rey Sue, she is also shown quite arrogant and all-fired sure for herself (of course, half-naked Ren is an argument to start fighting with Luke). She seems quite empty at the same time, cannot decide for herself for a long time, needs a beacon. And she is positioned as a role model. That is sad. Moreover, this offer to rule the galaxuy...Mr. Johnson, seriously? She barely has any awareness of politics, economy, culture etc. Even Palapatine knew that Force itself is not enough to run the Galaxy. 5. Luke`s character decay. It is done only on one purpose - to make him worse than Rey, to show her compassion for enemy (what is the source of this compassion? during 3 force-bonds she accuses Kylo of what he did, and one hour later or so - she is ready to go through Galaxy to save him! Seriously?). Luke`s character was spoiled - as an illustration of the killing the past, if needed. 6. Romance - total fail. I do not know what RJ wanted to show (explaining some points in interview is bad, the mass-oriented movie should speak for itself), I judge the picture that I watched. Both Kylo-Rey and Finn-Rose dynamics was awful. Primitive attempts to show any romantic hints, endless moralization. I did not see love or so in each relationship. If these relationships were meant to be shown as endgame or something, it would have been better to invite someone who specializes in romantic films for consulting. Neither fish nor fowl.

The franchise is officially dead. Alas.

Jeez, haven't seen THAT kind of review before. I don't even like the movie and even I feel sick of it. Now most of your points are the usual criticisms, but I do want to adress one:

Hux. The person who was shown in TFA as a mixture of Thrawn and Tarkin characters experienced a decay.

... Please tell me you aren't serious. Hux was pathetic from day one, and to compare him to Thrawn is an insult to Thrawn. The only difference is that TFA didn't realize he was ridiculous, while TLJ does and decided to run with it.

And I'll keep it at that.

Trying to satisfy all the groups of minorities

Yes, there were so many black women and Middle Eastern women and Indigenous women and Latina women and queer people of the entire LGBTQ spectrum... oh wait. So one additional Vietnamese-American actress constitutes \"all the minorities\", apparently.

Moreover, at the end of the movie, 2 white handsome men remain evil

The Original Trilogy is so racist because all the white men in the Empire are evil. And British.

The climax of the movie revolves around the most powerful person in the galaxy being a white dude who overpowers all the other white dudes. Also we see evil people of color in the First Order.

@Tuckerscreator: Good point. Also the original trilogy had the only black guy in the franchise (at the time) on the side of the Rebellion, as well as multiple aliens in the Rebellion (including Amiral \"It\'s a Trap!\" Ackbar), while the Empire was almost entirely made of white humans with guys like Thrawn explicitly being described as exceptions in the expanded universe.
