Extraordinarily cheesy movie that borders on the absurd.

Legend of Everfree. The fourth Equestria Girls movie is here and the fourth in as many years.

We've had an introduction, a sequel that did basically nothing, and a third movie that improved and took the series into a bold new direction, so when Legend of Everfree was announced, I was of course skeptical. Friendship Games I thought was the best one of the series, and making a fourth movie made me think the creators were pushing their luck.

With all of the awkward introductions, twists and character reformations out of the way, Legend of Everfree had more questions than answers on what was going to happen next.

Well, they said "screw it" and turned it into a superhero film. Legend of Everfree is easily the most fun movie in the series. By "most fun" I don't mean best, but this movie is the most fun because it's probably the most entertaining, for both right and wrong reasons. It's a total, unapologetic cheese-fest.

The really cut back on the characterization, dramatic and emotional elements of the prior films, and threw it out for pure action and silliness. There is little to no "bonding" moments or friendship talks in this movie. Some people may not appreciate the loss of the character-driven elements, but I personally like it.

Once again, they try to introduce romantic elements into the movie, with Sci Twi developing a crush on Timber Spruce, but like all the previous times, it goes nowhere and is barely worth mentioning. To the movie's credit, Timber Spruce actually plays a significant role in the movie beyond "dopey love interest", so you do end up caring about the dude, to an extent.

Other than that, there is much to comment about this film. There's minimal character development or story to follow. Sci Twi, still reeling from the Friendship Games, struggles with her Superpowered Evil Side Midnight Sparkle, leaving her afraid to use her new magical abilities. Speaking of magical abilities, the other Humane Seven gets new superpowers somehow. Applejack gets Super Strength, Rarity can create crystal barriers, Fluttershy can talk to animals, etc... It's never explained, but I don't think it even matters anymore. That's not what this movie is about or clearly what it's going for.

The villain of the movie is a straight up classic supervillain, complete with corny, hammy lines and own Villain Song. I won't spoil who it is.

Legend of Everfree, like it's predecessors is not a great movie in the slightest, but it is definitely a very silly one with lots of over-the-top moments that give it plenty of charm.

The movie clearly explains that the magical crystals were what gave the Humane 7 powers, I\'m not sure how you missed that.

I'm a geek.
