It took me almost half a year to find the link to this extraordinary fanfic and when I did, I was going through an emotional but fun ride.
The fanfic was well-written from the beginning. You can tell the author poured her blood and sweat and soul into her writing because you just feel its utterly believable. Not to mention that aside from the main cast from Left 4 Dead 2, we get OCs that are fleshed out and stand out in their own spotlight. Blind Man's Bluff is paced not by the campaign by campaign style like the game but, in the most realistic manner you can't help but feel pulled into.
The loved characters interact with each other in such a profound way that you actually think that its quite possible to hear them actually say the dialogues. But, truly...we know it isn't only about the plot of the fanfic. There's also the slow budding romance between Nick and Ellis.
Its not like one of those "Hey, you're straight and I'm gay and I think you're hot so I'm gonna screw you until you admit you're totally in love with me" shtick. No, siree Bob. The Ho Yay is just beautifully written.
Blind Man's Bluff not only manages to focus on the romance of Nick and Ellis, but also incorporate it into the whole plot that it doesn't overpower everything else. There's development and we get to see them go through the motions of denial all the way to accepting of the sexuality.
You get a balance of sex, action, comedy, plot, character development and so much more. What more could you possibly ask from a fanfic?
