A very fun Carribean Dictatorship!

I recently purchased Tropcio 3 and its expansion. At first I was pretty skeptical about the game, it seemed like another Sim City rip-off. Then I played it. The game is pretty hard to get into at first, the tutorial does not sufficiently tell you about the game. You kind of have to learn it yourself. But when you get into it, it is awesome. There are a lot of cool things about this game, and you can pretty much lead your nation however you want, simple and agricultural, industrious and reliant on tourism, or have a mass military to keep your power (or just do all those!). It really makes you feel liek your a leader, you are all powerful, and can really have anyone you want shot. However, you always have to please your citizens, and there are many ways to do this, many are quite rewarding. The graphics are quite impressive, and at times you'll just want to zoom down and explore your city, it looks lively, like a real city, with a realistic scale and people attending to their daily buisness. The one problem with this game is that it gets repetetive after you've tried out the majority of the options in this game. However, this a great game, and the expansion is very good. 8/10.

The only beef I had with Tropico was that although it gave you plenty of ways to rule as a tin-pot dictator (lik organising religious inquisitions, or cancelling elections), there was little reason to act them out as playing as a benevolent leader is often easier.

The add-on pack counters this problem by introducing new supporters who actually want you to behave lika a tyrant, and by creating scenarios were it is necessary to act in such a way. The add-on pack is excellent and really expands on the game play. I really recommend it.

Well, some of the reason you might want to play as a tyrant is For The Evulz. Thats why I did it the first few times around, but most of the time I make sure my citizens live well.

I agree tropcio 3 was fun although sometimes you get frustrated, since some missions can be a bit difficult(raise $500,000 in one mission)overall it's amazing, i wonder what tropico4 will have instore for tropico fans?.

I'm hoping for an import mechanic (so you don't have to grow your own food - for a price), and more shops/commercial based structures. A railway would be awesome as well.

I personally hope it will expand on the military aspect and let me build tanks and planes and invade fellow islands.

Tropico 4 is really fun too! I think the music is better in 4 than in 3... but nothing beats the music of the first one! (I bought the CD!). The radio commentaries and comments are thankfully so much more entertaining in 4. I couldn't stand that guy in 3!
