There Are No X-Men In This Movie
Nightcrawler is an exceedingly dark thriller that follows a man named Lou Bloom, who's drawn into the dark world of 'Nightcrawling' (recording violent crimes). This film is beautiful, tense and extremely brutal, in a good way. Lou is a dark and psychotic figure who manages to enrapture the viewer through a strange charisma. He's a fantastic cha...

I don't know a proper title for this review.
Honestly, I thought things like "Death by Details" due to all the lil problems piling up or "American Yakisoba" because its story has very, VERY similar problems to both "God of War" (the reboot) and "Blue Eye Samurai" but... either would give the impression that I didn't like this game. I did! In fact, this is the first Sony 'cinematic'...

Interesting Idea. Lacking Execution
The idea is probably one of the most original I found among salt fics. Lila as the Ladybug holder, Marinette and her friends deciding to willingly ally themselves with Hawk Moth and becoming more villainous... You don't find many fics that explores such ideas. The problem comes when it's clear the author had little idea what to make of them. If y...

So much cringe...
The root of Anne Happy's plot is excessive misfortune befalling its protagonists. And it is taken to such ludicrous levels that you can't help but cringe at how absurd it is. At the beginning it looks kind of funny but with every another incident a very unpleasant feeling creeps in. The special class at Tennomifune Academy is supposed to improve ...

Empty Feelings
So...I did come out of the movie mixed. I don't completely love or hate the movie. For some positives, I did appreciate that the producers were willing to take a risk with this film as it greatly deviates from the standard formula for the MCU. I did like the expanded world-building to the lore with learning more about the Celestials. On a cinemato...

A Curate's Egg, it Is
The thing that attracted me most to The Acolyte is its promise that it is utterly divorced from the last few decades of Star Wars media. This is a story set 100 years before the events of the prequel movies, before there is even a Star War. And so unlike the last show, Ashoka, there shouldn't be any baggage, any continuity concerns, any gratuitous...

How Do You Know You Are Real?
That’s the question that lies at the heart of Dark City. It makes a great companion to The Matrix, which of course asks “How do you know the world around you is real?” Both films deal with a fake world constructed by other beings to trick humanity into compliance. The difference is that while The Matrix balanced its philosophical concepts wit...

It Gets Boring After a While
I won't beat around the bush. The fic is boring. The idea of the gentle but bullied protagonist finding her only friend is nothing special but in itself is somewhat interesting to see how it develops. The problem is that it's clear the author is far more interested in making Marinette miserable. One season and half and there's almost nothing goo...

Very good in terms of rationality, but misses part of what makes the original One Piece awesome
To start off, I am a big One Piece fan, and more than enthusiastic to read any fics that expand upon canon. The premise, which was someone else reincarnating as Luffy, with potshots at the original, wasn't a green flag, but I still progressed. And I don't regret it. In terms of research, unlike other fics that include spite and rationality, the a...

EightDeadlyWords in full effect here.
Alright, since I watched Riiser's in-depth nine-part review on this webcomic, I'll pretty much cut right to the chase. I'm not swayed by the fanservice in the comic, by the way, and that's not even my biggest problem with the comic. My biggest problem with this webcomic (besides Miles) is Mora Linda herself. Bang!
I've watched quite a lot of anime adaptations, particularly Japanese made ones, and they consistently demonstrate two truths: 1) a lot of anime's stylings simply do not translate into good live action and 2) anime fans will insist you put it in anyway, all other considerations be damned. Netflix's 2021 Cowboy Bebop is no exception to either of t...

A Great Team-Up
I will disclose my biases upfront. I am more of a Layton fan than an AA fan. Nostalgia aside, I generally prefer the gameplay and pacing of the Layton series to its older brother. Obviously I am an AA fan, but PL will always have a special place in my heart that AA can’t quite match. I feel this is important to acknowledge because it seems that t...

So, the question few are asking due to the recent wave of rehashed sequels and reboots banking on nostalgia in order to get a quick cash without having to resort to risky things such as... innovation and creativity, is this movie good? Dude where's my civilwar
For a film titled Civil War, there is no war. What war there is in the film is so bloated with Hollywood tactics that it makes me wonder if the combat veteran advisors on set weren't Stolen Valor cases found on a street corner asking for spare change. It had the makings of a decent war story- except it forgot the basics of a war story. War stories...

I have a decent familiarity with Batman and his stories, but wouldn't call myself a huge fan or expert. I debated for a while how to write this one since I do like it a lot and could do individual reviews of certain cases, but if I'm honest I don't really have much to say about the first two. The same, but worse
Origami King doesn't actually fix any of the problems with Sticker Star or Color Splash. It just disguises them or makes them worse. First off, battles. Wild, Scary, Aggressive & Eerie
Those are the four terms I'd use, if pressed, to sum up this game (aside from the secret fifth one, Bri'ish); it's at once a crazy departure from Demon's/Dark Souls and a slimmed-down version of all of those games, achieving both by largely simplifying the formula, but in doing so it creates an experience that, nine years later, remains one of ...

The Great Unsung Hero of the DCAU
Even in its own time, Superman: the Animated Series stood in the shadow of Batman. Universal's latest revamp of one of their classic fantasy horror IPs has some problems. Funny, but...
A very faithful adaptation of the book (which I enjoyed something fierce), so the effect of surprise may have been a bit lost. It's still funny and witty, and the Tennant-Sheen duo totally steals the show, but as another troper pointed out, once on screen the story does remind one of Dogma.

'Episode 8.5'
I can see this as Episode 8.5 of the original series, as an retrospective for Sayaka, similar to Episode 10 for Homura. It is split into smaller sections, one for every person that developed Sayaka's character. A beautiful and tragic one-shot, with discreet humour, like the part about "adults falling in love with people who complete them".

Better than the first game, but there's room for improvement
Octopath Traveler was a fun throwback to SNES-era RPGs, but it had some noticeable flaws. The sequel fixes some, but not all, of those problems, so I recommend it to those who enjoyed the original. KISS Goes Pop, Year Two
If Dynasty was considered a wading pool for KISS to go pop, Unmasked is definitely them going off the deep end. It is so radio-friendly with what was popular for music back at the start of the 1980s, it was a major turn-off for KISS fans. It's got Ace singing a few songs, but that highlight isn't enough to save this album.

KISS' version of The Wall
1981 was a risky year for KISS and its fans. After disappointing the hard-core fans by releasing Dynasty and Unmasked, which were considered too pop-sounding for a band that's supposed to be menacing and scary, they turn to Bob Ezrin to produce something that would bring its fans back to the more hard and edgy sound of their music. As a kid I got into this for the novelty of it all, and the cool fish out of water element, with some humour. And imitating how Cornelius walks. The first thing I must say is that visually, the game is incredible, and kept me playing despite mounting problems.
