Deleted the following from Film - Live Action. I have watched the movie multiple times and neither situation is an example of this trope. In the first example they only killed themselves to avoid being captured by the aliens after they were trapped. In the second there's no indication Hudson was sacrificing himself to let the others escape: he died while fighting alongside them. Also, Examples Are Not Arguable: if you have to say that an example is debatable it almost certainly isn't an example.
Vasquez and Gorman blow themselves up to allow Ripley and company escape time in Aliens (though it's debatable whether this was the case, or they just wanted to avoid being alien chow).
Hudson's last stand from the same film is also a debatable example.
