Here is a paragraph I cut from Broken Base for being way too long. Please make it less of a Wall of Text before readding it.

  • Bellamy's story arc in Season 3: Emori the Ice Nation Grounder who helped him in Mount Weather in season 2 lures Bellamy and other guards away from Mount Weather (where they started moving in people to live there) so that another member of the Ice Nation could activate the self destruction sequence that kills 36 people including his girlfriend at the time Gina. In his grief he agrees to a plan by Pike and others to massacre a Trikru army outside Arkadia who were sent to protect them from any further Ice Nation attacks because Pike and the others were thinking that the Trikru army was planning on attacking them. After Kane stops them from going through with their plan, Bellamy gets Pike elected Chancellor and along with other members of the Farm Station go through with the massacre killing 299 of them in their sleep and Pike declares war on all grounders. He also becomes Pike's second in command and they attempt to attack a grounder village in order to steal food and supplies from them and he kills two grounder messengers sent to Arkadia to tell them to surrender. He also betrays Clarke and Octavia when they sneak into Arkadia and try too talk some sense into him. He eventually turns on Pike after Pike sentences Kane to be executed and he reunites Clarke and the other the 100 to stop Pike's plans and eventually the growing threat of ALIE. Many fans hated his story arc and felt his participation in the massacre and going with Pike's plans was Out of Character for him given his Character Development in the second season and they they hated that he goes back to hating and distrusting all grounders including the Trikru who they have a truce with and have been their allies for months and seeing no difference between them and the Ice Nation just because one grounder betrayed him and basically going back to the person he was at the beginning of the series. Some fans had no problem with his story arc and felt his choice to massacre the army and join Pike was in character for him given that in season 1 he mostly let Clarke make all the decisions and he made the more violent ones and that his going back to hating and distrusting all grounders is justified given that he's mostly had negative experiences with them given that the moment they got on the ground the grounders started attacking them and they had to sacrifice their friend Finn just to make peace with them. They also point out that he was mostly in Mount Weather when the others were learning more about Lexa and the Trikru and all he knows about Lexa is that she almost got his sister killed when she and Clarke didn't tell the others about the missiles and that she and her people abandoned them at Mount Weather which lead to him and Clark killing all the Mountain people to save their people so he has good reasons not to trust Lexa to keep her word and they also point out the the only grounders he trusted are Lincoln and Emori and she was the one who betrayed him. Other fans believe that he wasn't responsible for his actions because of his grief over the deaths of his girlfriend and the many people at Mount Weather and the trauma of the things he did and went through in the fight against Mount Weather in season 2. They mostly put the blame on Pike for using his grief to get him to go along with his plan to fight a war with the grounders.
