Regarding the whole air guitar manga scene debate (under "Common Knowledge"):

This is interesting to me, because I own a physical copy of the manga (printed in 2010, a couple years before the anime aired), and in the official Italian translation, Kars does *not* do the air guitar noises. He *does* make a creepy comment about Lisa Lisa having beautiful legs, and then makes an almost comically misogynistic joke upon kicking her off to dangle by the rope. Yet, none of that is in the original Japanese dialogue, as the trope entry correctly states. In fact, almost every single line of dialogue in the anime was identical to its manga equivalent for that scene.

So, my question now is this: since it's unlikely that both the English fan translations AND the official Italian ones put the exact same fabricated bit of dialogue in the exact same panel, one of them has to have come first, with the other repeating the fabrication uncritically instead of double checking with the original. But which one was it? On one hand, I have no trouble believing the Italian translation team was unprofessional enough to use a fanmade English version as a template, but on the other hand, I have a faint memory from a decade ago of someone mentioning that Italy used to be one of the few non-Japanese countries to have an official release of the manga aside from part 3 (which may or may not be true, I don't know how to fact check that so don't take my word for it). So it could also be that the fanmade English version was translated from Italian rather than Japanese.

I don't know, it's a small thing really, but now I'm invested in the mystery lol
