Then it seems that your opinion is with the attitude towards the animated version, so maybe an entry there would be more fitting. Perhaps Base-Breaking Character for that Cinderella - between those who think she's a weak character and those who think she's better than given credit for.
How was what I added Natter? Because all I pointed out there, was that not everyone agrees with the notion that Cinderella in the 2015 remake is a "brave survivor of abuse" and more progressive, which is why I brought up Doug Walker as an example of those who disagree with the critics and audiences' view on its portrayal of the character.
Hide / Show RepliesJust a guess but maybe because it was added under Broken Base - which isn't just people disagreeing over an issue. It means when people are completely split down the middle. And there just isn't that big divide. The majority are praising the character, while Doug is the first person I've heard dislike her for that reason. There's a few who agree with him, but I don't see massive flame wars over this Cinderella being worse than the animated one. Nothing on a YMMV page is universal of course.
I suggest entering it under Fandom Rivalry - the rivalry being between the animated and live action, over which has the better heroine. And since it's Doug's opinion, add it to his page under a Critical Dissonance entry (where his opinion differs from the critics').
I was the person who sent the natterfy, and that's exactly it. With all due respect to Doug Walker, his disagreement with overwhelming consensus isn't exactly noteworthy outside of very specific circles.
Frankly, I don't think it should be mentioned at all on this page, but it could go on his YMMV page.
I serve at the pleasure of President Pritchart.
To everyone here, I actually happen to be one that takes issue with this version of the Cinderella character, being added to the Rescued from the Scrappy Heap entry. Considering that a few folks out there like Doug Walker, happen to disagree with the critics and audiences' view on its portrayal of the character.
