Is Zig supposed to be the protagonist or antagonist? The examples seem to be a bit split on this.

Zig is supposed to be the villain. You know, Marina and Sharko have the same problem: nobody has problems with Marina slowly bringing the entire island under her control via hypnosis, while Sharko does not have problems with beating up creatures, and generally is sadistic. There is a lot of episodes where our "heroes" do questionable, amoral things, and the only reason Zig is a villain because he wants to eat Marina. Nothing else.
