"You protect the thing you want to protect to the very end. That's the right way to do it."'Kay, so on the main page, someone has added the trope Deep Cover Agent and claimed that this is what Tron will become in Legacy. Is there any proof of this?
"You protect the thing you want to protect to the very end. That's the right way to do it."Seems it...then again every time it's canceled a month later something else leaks. Right now it's dead in the water.
"No Bounds" mistake
SPOILERS BELOW
The listing claims "Cyrus is dead, but that's little comfort.". In the SD copy of the show, I thought that too.
BUT in a 1080p copy rewatch, it's clearer that the attachment slammed against Cyrus' chest is the only thing Tron sees on the floor below the high gantry Cyrus fell from, which means he (barely) got free and ran.
Edited by CertifiableI've added pics for Cutler, Moog, and Cyrus to the Characters page. anyone know where to find decent pics for Rasket and pre-tattoo Cyrus?
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. Hide / Show RepliesDoes using images from Tron Wiki count as cheating? The page image for Rasket is pretty clear. The pre-face-lined Cyrus is the first image after the page image. http://tron.wikia.com/wiki/Rasket http://tron.wikia.com/wiki/Cyrus
Edited by reno2200So, since cancellation is pretty much a certainty, They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot? Tron's warning about Beck's risky strategy sure sounded like foreshadowing. They could've have Beck not able to get to the machine in time, making Tron become Rinzler and having them fight. There could've been a Naruto moment where they both lunge and Rinzler hits Beck fatally but Beck only superfically grazes him, just enough to upload a virus with a simple message - "I fight for the Users!"Clu pops up, accepts Rinzler as his new chief enforcer and kills Tesler, Dyson and all those other fools for not stopping the renegade. It might have been a bit neater. Massively cheesy and seen a mile away by anyone who had seen Legacy, but still.
Does a Gilligan Cut HAVE to be for the sake of comedy? If not, when Paige says that she gets her strength from knowing that Tessler will never betray her qualifies. A flashback then plays, showing him have her friends derezzed and plotting to kill everyone in the building where he found Paige. She got lucky, in other words. The statement is then reiterated by Tessler, confirming that he would never betray her immediately after the potential Gilligan Cut scene ends.
Hide / Show RepliesI think this might qualify as an Ironic Echo, since by the end of the flashback, we know that Tessler has it in him. So instead of a comedy cut, it's a moment where the audience knows otherwise, but no one else does. (except Quorra and Tessler of course)
Lord Eric Wu, Grandmaster of the order of Troping. It's a little too drawn out to be a Gilligan Cut in any case. The flashback is in dramatic form, and it doesn't immediately address Paige's ironic statement. A Gilligan Cut would cut directly to the image that contradicts/confirms the previous statement.
Would it count as Took a Level in Badass if it only lasted one fight scene? A temporary disc upgrade promoted Pavel from Professional Butt-Kisser to Drunk on the Dark Side demon. There's a point where he deflects a light disc WITH A HAND. Took a Level in Jerkass at the same time - a morally-vacant sycophant getting a power boost is bound to get a bit more cocky.
EDIT: from the episode Tagged, it seems that the glass and neon strips that make Tron Legacy look so damn awesome are merely a cover. Underneath it all, there's the same 1982-style brightly coloured lines everywhere. Even the programs themselves appear to have the old Tron Lines hidden behind the new suits. Is this a trope?
Also, would it count as Continuity Nod or Mythology Gag that Beck tests three potential Renegade helpers in the same way Tron did? Obviously, it's a call back of sorts, but Beck wears the same outfit that Tron did when Beck was 'captured' - the one that looks like Rinzler!
'Nother Edit: Keller injects something into her jaw that changes her appearance. It's all computer-y, but it seems like a Minority Report Shout-Out to me. Some sticky pads are used on the roof of a train similar to a different Tom Cruise film, Mission Impossible. It seems that some programs don't need them, though. Another thing - every time a significant program doesn't want to be found, they think that being one of the only cloth/fabric cloak wearing people in the digital world is subtle... and they get away with it! Genre Blind?
Edited by reno2200Regarding this:
- Canon Discontinuity: At least for the time being. Tron's presence in the series directly conflicts with the information given in TRON: Legacy, in which he was shown to be brainwashed and turned into Clu's dragon, Rinzler (though everyone else believed him to be dead). While Tron does appear to have a disguise that makes him look like Rinzler, he is still seemingly in control of his own actions, perhaps acting as a spy. Granted there is roughly 20 years of story between the events of the films and is headed by Legacy's screenwriters, so it wouldn't be terribly difficult to fit into canon.
I don't think Tron was "shown" being repurposed and turned into Rinzler; rather, evidence was given strongly implying that fact. No details were given about the interim between Tron's disappearance and the beginning of the movie, which leaves very little for Tron Uprising to contradict. Furthermore, there is nothing indicating that this is canon discontinuity as opposed to a simple Retcon, and there is no official word on the subject.
As such, the inclusion of this trope to the page right now would not be prudent.
The Other Wiki claims that The Grid will be voiced by Tricia Heffler. Is this true?
Xbox/PlayStation: IndiGhost77 | on semi-hiatus Hide / Show RepliesYeah, check the citation. There are videos of interviews where she discusses her work in the show on her website. Or rather, on tricia-helfer.org [sic]. I don't know if that's her site, per se.
Given the vocoder effect they put on voices, this was kind of bound to happen, but she sounds like EDI.
Hmm...the page mentions that Cutler is an ISO, but I can't remember that ever being said. Is that just a slip of the typing finger, or is Cutler actually an ISO?
Hide / Show RepliesHe isn't. He FOUGHT in the ISO wars and has an armband from back then, but he's a Program.
The ending to the prequel comic Tron Betrayal shows Tron wounded and riding off to places unknown. I think that gives credit to this being canon.
I'm not sure what categories the following would fall under, but here goes. With Tron 'passing the torch' in this series, it would seem that 'Tron' is a legacy character. Tron... legacy... is there some pun there? Maybe? No? The other thing I thought of is the way the show parallels the 'Flynn Lives' campaign.
In-universe, Flynn Lives was an underground movement in the real world suggesting that the computer prodigy Kevin Flynn was alive somewhere (which, following Tron Legacy, his son Sam changes to mean that his ideas and beliefs will live on through him) whilst in this series, there's a 'Tron Lives' movement that believe that the once-thought-dead Tron is secretly alive. This may end up foreshadowing a dark turn for 'Tron Lives' if Tron doesn't recover from Clu's attack...
Hide / Show RepliesIronic Echo and Mythology Gag for the latter. I don't think the "legacy" thing is relevant since they're two different and relatively unconnected legacies.
Anyone know the term for a phrase that is used time and again, but isn't Arc Words since everyone knows what it means? In other words, what would you call the phrase "Tron Lives"?
