I'm slightly surprised no-one's mentioned the various nods to Sailor Moon, most notably Anastasia's alter ego of Queen Obscuria working for The Shadow Kingdom (= Dark Kingdom); more tangentially, Tiff's donning of the mask could be a parody of both Tuxedo Kamen and the ridiculous levels of Clark Kenting in that series, and of course there's Mel's embarrassing costume complete with short skirt - but unlike the Sailor Senshi, she finds it embarrassing too.
Would Armor-Piercing Question apply when Jacqui asks Rain (who's fleeing from the shower) "Excuse me, but...are those boy parts?" while pointing at Rain's crotch. Rain then blushes furiously and tries to deny it. Jacqui, though, who'd "Been around" knows "boy parts" when she saw them.
The most recent strip for 8/28/12 has that little girl drop a bomb on Mel. "Sorry, but that's not MY kitty...that's YOUR kitty!" she goes as she vanishes. And said kitty goes "Mow!" to Mel in a cutesy way like a Moggle (sp)? from Final Fantasy. The most recent of steps as we find "the leash" has been given to Mel—and The Call Will NOT be denied, no doubt with the Wand helping get Mel's attention :P
What about the most recent page, "The Dud"? Rain, the Rainbow Dash expy, thinks Weak, but Skilled Melissa can be taken out before she can use her magic. Instead, she gets stunned-by-judo-flip thanks to Mel. (Like Didi had been taken down by Yuki in Menage a 3.)
Pride probably might fit Rain, or is it any other Rainbow Dash based trope?
Is there a "Meaningful Chapter Title" trope? The Chapter 7 title, "'Scuse Me While I Kiss This Skye" is an accurate if punny Mondegreen take on Jimi Hendrix's "'Scuse Me While I Kiss the Sky."
Bit of trivia: A book "'Scuse Me While I Kiss This Guy" came out in 1995 and also brought the mondegreen for the title.
