I really don't think likes on Twitter is strong enough evidence to Joss a guess. My counterargument? Van Halen did release an album that was seen as a decent return under David Lee Roth, but VHIII was still an embarrassment that killed the band's relevance. Also the post-St. Anger Metallica albums were decently received and they're still a big draw, but the album itself turned them from a household name to merely "big for a metal band", and never have they met their lofty thrash scene days ever again. Black Sabbath doesn't get jossed that easily just because 13 was a return of form. Their relevance in the music scene was well past them at that point, and Born Again saw to it in the post-Dio days.

Todd did say that he has to be sure that the career is truly dead and buried, though some anomalies have existed (eg. Liz Phair having a respectable comeback this year). Robin Thicke seems like an exception to the rule because though he did release a new album this year, he's not in the spotlight that he was after the deathblow that was Paula.
1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die (all editions) progress: 410/1089 (37.65%)Is it too early to suggest You're Welcome by a Day Too Remember for the list?
Why is The Seeds of Love listed? Doesn't a "Trainwreckord" have to be a bad or poorly-received album? The Seeds of Love actually got generally good reception from critics, at least according to Wikipedia.
Edited by themayorofsimpleton TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper Wall Hide / Show RepliesIt didn't get the same near-universal praise from critics as Songs from the Big Chair, it sold considerably less than that album, and the band were never huge superstars again afterwards. A "Trainwreckord" is an album that hurt a band or artist's career in some major form. It doesn't have to be outright panned.
Ah, OK. I was just confused.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallConsidering that several artists have multiple Trainwreckords candidates, maybe we should sort the examples by artist instead of by album titles (and sort an individual artist's albums chronologically)? I think this:
- Generic Boyband:
- Ow the Edge: This attempt to go Darker and Edgier got them laughed at and badly alienated fans of their massively successful debut Silly Love Songs. Unsurprisingly, it yielded no hits and sold very poorly.
- Troubled Production: The Ow the Edge follow-up Revisiting the Roots won back some of the fans who had abandoned them after Edge, and it seemed like they were about to make a major comeback. However, the Hostility On Set during the production of this album tore apart the band.
- Sophomore Slump by The Tropers
- Failed Genre Shift by Vera & Will
is more practical than this:
- Failed Genre Shift by Vera & Will
- Ow the Edge by Generic Boyband: This attempt to go Darker and Edgier got them laughed at and badly alienated fans of their massively successful debut Silly Love Songs. Unsurprisingly, it yielded no hits and sold very poorly.
- Alternatively, Troubled Production. The Ow the Edge follow-up Revisiting the Roots won back some of the fans who had abandoned them after Edge, and it seemed like they were about to make a major comeback. However, the Hostility On Set during the production of this album tore apart the band.

or this:
- Failed Genre Shift by Vera & Will
- Ow the Edge by Generic Boyband: This attempt to go Darker and Edgier got them laughed at and badly alienated fans of their massively successful debut Silly Love Songs. Unsurprisingly, it yielded no hits and sold very poorly.

In the second option, it's unclear if you have to look under O or T if you want to find Ow the Edge or Troubled Production. The third option has the disadvantage of not putting all of an artist's albums in the same place.
Edited by MathsAngelicVersion Hide / Show RepliesI agree. Working on such list as we speak.

1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die (all editions) progress: 410/1089 (37.65%)To anybody who adds contributions and edits this page: Does Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz count as a Trainwreckord for Miley Cyrus? Because it pretty much killed the momentum she had with the Bangerz era. I just want to know if this counts or not.
Hide / Show RepliesThat depends on whether Todd thinks Miley Cyrus was able to come back from the flop that was Dead Petz. On the one hand, her subsequent album Younger Now reached the top five in multiple countries, including the US. On the other hand, its sales were much worse than those of Bangerz, and it seems to be mostly forgotten by now. And even if Todd thinks Miley hasn't been able to make a true comeback yet, he'd most likely at least wait and see how the upcoming She Is Miley Cyrus performs before making a Trainwreckords episode on Miley Cyrus (it'd be awkward if he made a video on the "career-killing" Dead Petz, only to see her making a surprise comeback with She Is Miley Cyrus shortly afterwards).
With all of that said, I think it's fine if you write a speculative entry for Dead Petz. If Miley somehow makes a massive comeback, we can always delete it later.
Edited by MathsAngelicVersionPersonally I don't agree with it being a trainwreckord, it's not like the MTV Unplugged 2.0 album that was actually pushed to be a major release, it was just a weird side project that was put out on the internet for free.
^ Fair point. It can be argued that Dead Petz, as a strange side project, was not responsible for the decline of Miley Cyrus's popularity.
With that said, I still think it's okay to write a speculative entry on Dead Petz. A lot of speculation ends up being Jossed anyway.
Edited by MathsAngelicVersionThat's a very good point about looking at the performance of the new album. Just curious to see if it would be considered or not. Thanks for clarifying this, I didn't think anyone would reply to this.
I think it's too early to declare Treat Myself jossed. "Made You Look" has only reached #61 on the Hot 100 so far. It has done better in other countries, but it's still more of a merely okay performance than a true Career Resurrection.
