So just in case the highlighting feature for the archive isn't working, this is a cap of the tweet I was citing http://puu.sh/FIopy.png

If you don't think it's pushing, then I'll agree to leave that example out for now, but for the record, there was issue taken with the translator's word choice simply because of it being loaded buzzword (and for the purposes of the discussion, I will leave the agenda pushing angle off to the side and out of this), and because there are other, just as valid translations available, like calling out his tough-guy/macho facade.

As for original devs "agreeing" with the translation, keep in mind that they paid for this localization entirely from the profits from selling the original Japanese version. Mangagamer essentially has Novectacle by the collar, and they're taking them for a ride whether the devs like it or not, so they can't not agree with it.

The way you linked it doesn't work. I got a 404 trying to paste it.

I would argue that it's not meant to be taken in a political sense. While yes, the Tweets look very bad, in the context of when and how the line is stated, its not political at all, and the line works very well. I would argue that in the scene, Morgana is stepping into the room and just insulting straight insulting Jacopo before he can even say anything, and that "calling out his tough guy facade" would work less well than insulting his pride, being his Fatal Flaw.

Or they actually agree with the change and thinks it works well. There is really no argument to be made at this point about them being forced to agree because there is no evidence to believe as such, its just an assumption being made by people who dislike the translation choice and think that that's the only reason they would agree with it. If somebody in the company makes a private post saying otherwise, then there would be evidence of that, but thats unlikely to happrn and with things as they are, there's no proof that they don't agree with it.

"The way you linked it doesn't work. I got a 404 trying to paste it." ..so the archive service throws a 404 at you when you try to access it?

Anyway, I'll leave everything off for now. Hope no one else gets any ideas......

1) Even if they agree with the word choice, it still doesn't change the fact that it was done this way. Plus, Manga Gamer underpay their translators, translators that are vitriolic towards fans behind people's backs, so it's not like there's zero evidence to support the theory that they're forced to do agree with this decision.

2) Appabend did a video explaining why this word choice doesn't work even in context ( https://youtu.be/FrBEx-gcA1c ), but here's the TLDR version: his ego being fragile has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he's male, the meaning of the sentence is completely changed (since it goes from being a meta deconstruction of the tsundere trope, obviously in good humor, to just insulting him for being male), and yes, it was obvious that this was done to push an agenda.

Oh my god I thought this was dead. I can't believe people still think this. It's not pushing an agenda, that is utterlt ridiculous. Saying "the original creators only said they agreed with it but they don't actually" has always been a nonsensical argument. If they say they agree with it then they agree with it, anything more is ridiculous.
