Since we now have 1980s Mode and it's its own complete story, should we put tropes regarding it in a different folder than the others?
I've been here too long. Regretting choosing this screenname ten years ago. Hide / Show RepliesYes! That's a good idea!
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576The main page claims Yandere Simulator is a deconstruction of harem anime and dating sims, but I don't see how. Senpai being inexplicably attractive enough that an average of one girl a week develops a crush on him is played straight, and while a yandere in a dating-sim-type environment makes things Darker and Edgier, it's less probable in real life than the absence of one. Unless someone can explain how those claims make sense, I'm inclined to remove them from the main page and consider Yandere Simulator Not A Deconstruction.
Edited by 742mph Hide / Show RepliesI don't think it's as much as it is a deconstruction now as it is going to be a deconstruction when it's complete.
But, then again, we can't really know for sure until it's done.
Found a six word story that may or may not be related to this: "Soulmate’s funeral. His wife cries. Bitch." (From http://www.sixwordstories.net/2012/12/soulmates-funeral-his-wife-cries-bitch/#comments)
[I am imagining Yandere-chan released from jail after a few decades for the charge of murder saying this as she watched her beloved Senpai's coffin being lowered into the ground.]
Happy troping! SophiePossible Plot Relations for the Three Demons in the Occult Club Otherworld:
- The succubus is either an allegory for Ryoba (her mentor-ish speech, talking about how Yan Chan wants to become one of her, saying she's not ready yet) or an allusion to Yan Chan's own hidden sexuality that she doesn't realize due to being emotionless. She could be the personified feeling of love Yan Chan felt when she met Senpai.
- The armless guy is an allegory for the Journalist (had noble intentions in hunting Ryoba, but was punished for his efforts, might be seeking some sort of revenge) or a reference to the ghost in the bathroom (who is also seeking revenge and is of a ghostly nature). It could also be an allusion to Yan Chan's need for revenge against anyone who wants Senpai, and her general insanity.
- The ghostly, Senpai-like figure is an allusion to Yan Chan's feelings about Senpai, thinking that he's the light of her life (the glowing hands), and that she doesn't deserve him (his text).
All of these are subconsious, which is why they're in the ghost dimension and hidden away.
What the heck happened to the page? It's no longer all under "Yandere Simulator" but fragmented between a bunch of different pages.
How can a replicator burn a pot roast? Can Camera Fiend be used to describe Yandere-chan and/or the photography club members?
Hide / Show RepliesI'm not too sure... it's a gameplay option for Yandere-chan (a sufficiently knowledgeable/insane person could conceivably win Senpai without taking a single picture, as far as we know), and it only might be the case for the Photography Club.
... Though LA Photography Club might fit the bill.
Considering the game is still in a drastically early build, I was wondering if it might be prudent to give it its own "What Could Have Been" page. Considering all the content that's been cut so far, rather than putting all these tropes on the main page with qualifiers of "this was true in an earlier build" (such as the final rival being another Yandere, which he has since said on Twitter is no longer the case, or the main character arriving at school with toast in her mouth) or deleting them outright, they can be moved to What Could Have Been. This will also allow us to add in planned content to the main page with the intention that it will make it into the final game (which is what the main page would be for) without having to constantly mention it's not added yet. If it gets scrapped, it can be moved to What Could Have Been.
Just bringing this up because unlike a lot of Video Games with cut content, Yandere Sim allows the community to see the entire game-making process, and there are more tropes based on that cut content than is usual.
If What Could Have Been is too narrow a trope for what I'm suggesting (as some of the things in the builds are never intended to be in the final game and thus wouldn't qualify), maybe just an extra trope page for the game's builds might be in order?
Just a suggestion to make cleaning everything up easier when the game is finalized. It seems to me that people are treating the game development process as things worth troping rather than using the page for the actual game (ex, adding Cerebus Syndrome because the game builds are getting increasingly more horrifying despite originally being comedic, when the game proper will be a horror through and through and thus it won't apply)
Edited by PriceCheck Hide / Show RepliesSounds good.
This account is dead. I’ve said a lot of dumb things in the past and I wish to forget them. I’m sorry if I’ve ever hurt anyone.I agree, although I'm also fine with cutting out all the tropes specific to development and dated language altogether.
Collecting all of the tropes that relate to the game's development process and builds rather than what will be the final game (and hoooo boy are there a lot). Would it perhaps be better to put these in a folder on the main page rather than a different page entirely? I'm just not sure if there's an appropriate sub-page that I could make for that.
—I may end up doing that instead actually. It would make it more clear for those adding tropes which ones go where (folders are more noticeable than a bluelink) and there aren't enough tropes on the page to split them necessarily.

What software does Yandere Dev use to make the game?
Edited by themaniacinthemailbox I don't get paid enough to do this shit. Hide / Show RepliesWhat reference does the mode that you activate when pressing the G button from the most recent update of the debug version.

Hi I was wondering if it would be ok to mention the grooming allegations on the YMMV page.
