Can anyone back up the bit about it influencing Sondheim? As far as I'm aware Sondheim isn't fond of it, having turned down an offer to translate it (says he prefers Weill's later musical theatre pieces).

Apparently, for the person who added that line, anything Weill wrote without Brecht didn't count. I took it out.

Mahagonny isn't really a Spiritual Successor to The Threepenny Opera; the Mahagonny-Songspiel version actually came out earlier. The real Spiritual Successor of The Threepenny Opera was Happy End.
