Do we really need all those words covered up as "spoilers" for a show that never existed?
I feel so muchI just want to say, stuff like this is why I love this site.
Hide / Show RepliesWhy is this such a large discussion board? The main entry doesn't even exist save for the title.
Hide / Show RepliesSo every other Candle Cove website has decided that the reason for the screaming episode, the show's abrupt end, and a majority of the Nightmare Fuel was that the show's director, Emerson Grimes, went insane. Are we going to keep denying there is a screaming episode or go with everyone else?
Hide / Show RepliesNo one's denying there was a screaming episode, and it is referenced several times. That said, none of the people I've talked to remember anything about anyone named Emerson Grimes, and so far none of them have found anything of substance relating to the show's production.
Emerson Grimes is mentioned as the show's director in the summary of this Youtube video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qvW5gSZ0dI
The Creepypastas Memoirs of a Set Designer: A Candle Cove Story and Candle Cove Experiences: Tales of the Laughingstock both go with this canon, as does To Light a Candle, I think. We're not denying the screaming episode exists, but we are denying that it was a real episode.
It's mentioned that there are some fan theories that the scream episode wasn't an actual episode, but it is noted that it's just a theory.
As to whether Emerson Grimes was genuinely the director, it should be noted that most of the accounts of him being director were second hand information. None of the reruns I've found online included the credits (I don't actually remember there being credits when I saw the show as a kid, but I probably wasn't paying attention) so I dunno if we wanna use these stories/interviews as sources...
That said, I think it's probably cool to talk about the guy so long as it's made clear that it's all hearsay and rumors.

Edited by Malchus Yeah, that avatar's a 'Shop of my real face. Hide / Show RepliesThat was the one with Percy's brother or cousin or something, right? And Horace was trying to steal the Laughingstock's food for some reason?
That "One Year Closer" song... such nightmare fuel lyrics and yet no tune to imagine it with... anyone else willing to make an instrumental or cover? I'd love to actually get a tune idea for the song rather than just making it up in my head as I read it.
Hide / Show RepliesI hear it in my head to the tune of the Oompa Loompa song. The end doesn't fit right though.
If memory serves it did sound a bit similar to the old school Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I mean it wasn't exactly the same, I think there was an extra beat somewhere, but it was pretty close. Given the rest of the show's budget, they probably ripped it off :P
Okay. I'm trying to be rational about this...
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS DOING HERE I THOUGHT CANDLE COVE WAS A Show Within a Show ON THAT FAKE DOCUMENT LIKE THE DARTH WIKI SAYS?!?! Is it suddenly real?! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?! IS THIS SOMEBODY'S SICK CREEPY IDEA OF A PRACTICAL JOKE?! Holy shit!
(...I tried. I'm still freaked.)
Edited by ThinksTooMuch Hide / Show RepliesIt's somebody's sick creepy idea of a practical joke, it is, no, it's somebody's sick creepy idea of a practical joke, and yes, respectively.
Edited by DocumentNObviously, Thinks Too Much thinks too much.
I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo.Show within a show? I remember it pretty well, but I don't remember what is was part of.
Does anyone know what happened to the studio that made the puppets? I was watching an episode of Ghastly Tales For Ghastly Children (children's horror show — long story) the other day, and in it there's a story about a ship of undead pirates. There's this puppet of a 'bone ship', with skeleton arms sticking out of the sides, and I'm sure those arms are the ones that used to be the Skin-Taker's — one of them has his ring on the finger, and another of them has his bracelet.
Edited by Farmelle Hide / Show RepliesI wish. We'd be lucky if we could even find out what company produced the show, let alone who made the puppets.
ATTN:Please do not add any "show within a show" comments to this page. The Darth Wiki covers that perfectly well.
I'm feeling strangely happy now, contented and serene. Oh don't you see, finally I'll be, somewhere that's green... Hide / Show RepliesThe problem, and sorry if I'm necroing here but this literally just came to my attention, is that the Sugar Wiki page comes up BEFORE the Darth Wiki page and gives no indication of the deception, or the existence of other pages. I've read the original, several spinoffs, & seen the Wiki, & this even left ME confused. Imagine what it does to people with no familiarity with the creepypasta.
Edit: To clarify, I approve of the page, I just think there should be some link somewhere to indicate the joke. Maybe at the end, or under "don't explain the joke" as a stealth pun.
Edited by LithpWould a main page instead of a darth wiki/sugar wiki set be possible? It itches that OCD itch in the back of my mind, and its a real shame to not get any unbiased information on this show.
Hide / Show RepliesThe Darth Wiki page is pretty much the "actual" page, while the Sugar Wiki page is the "in-universe" variant. I'm not sure what else you're looking for.
The Sugar Wiki page actually had me convinced for a minute that the show was real. At the time I'd only read the creepypasta and knew nothing of the myth being upheld as a joke. It's pretty well-done.
I'm really glad someone managed to remember all the lyrics to the "One Year Closer" song, but it's kind of long. Do you think we should make a Quotes page and put it there?
Hide / Show RepliesMy thoughts exactly. Dunno if a quotes page would be a good idea though... Any way we could make it collapsable?
You could use a folder or hottip, but that would look sort of clunky. Maybe we could create a quotes folder?
Can someone clean up the new examples that have been placed? While I DO remember those things that were mentioned, I can hardly read them.
Blue Pacific, signing off... Hide / Show RepliesFixed. I also couldn't find anything about the aborted 3rd season, so I removed the references until we can find citations.
I guess the problem here is that people mix up Troper Tales and the Sugar Wiki a little in their examples. The reason for this is probably that Candle Cove is a rather unique (or at least rare) example, with its Sugar Wiki and Darth Wiki. Maybe we should put up a note with a clearer guide-line on what can be posted? Should it be allowed to "invent canon" yourself, or should we stick strictly to what was referenced in the original story?
I think referring to storylines from the show are okay, but trying to talk about the show's writers is just silly.
Right, I've added a disclaimer on the editing page talking about what does and doesn't belong. I figured that since we can't find any info on the creators, most if not all of the behind-the-scenes info is rumors and speculation. As a result, I figure the trope page should deal more with the stuff that's actually in the show. Sound good?
Is anyone else tempted to make a Crowning Moment Of Awesome, Crowning Moment Of Funny, Tear Jerker, and Nightmare Fuel page? That seems like it could be fun.
Also, kudos the people who added to the Troper Tales page. I will now get no sleep tonight.

W Ith all these details, I was actually convinced there was a show of it somehwere (or at the very least a recreation) with how much detail there was, only to find literally nothing. If everything there was fake, it's incredibly detailed for being fake
That's a wrap, folkes
