Wasn't the Charizard page deleted for doing this stupid nonsense?

... yep. At least that was in the right namespace, though.

I would like to contest this for the following reasons:

  • Charizard was created out of fanboyism, and wasn't funny. Pikachu was created for Rule of Funny purposes, and is even linked to from JustForFun/PokemonSpeak. This is why it's in the "Pika Pikachu" namespace, although this can be changed if necessary.
  • I Am Groot suffers from the same namespace and potholing issues, and wasn't challenged for the longest time (although I only recently moved it from SelfDemonstrating/{{Groot}} to the fake "I Am Groot" namespace). Pikachu is simply a variation of Groot's page, but with a different type of Pokémon Speak that allows for style parodies (such as episode and work titles being depicted in italics and Pokémon Speak syllables rather than everything being one phrase).

  • Except this page isn't funny either.
  • I Am Groot is similarly stupid and I'd see it go too.

Here are a bunch of early reactions to Groot's page. People seemed to like it. Pikachu's page might be different (largely due to Pikachu itself being less unanimously liked than Groot, I presume), but in my opinion, I don't think either page should go unless they prove to be unpopular in some way (lack of edits/views, constant flaming, tropers voting against keeping the pages, etc.) Pikachu's page was also inspired by its Uncyclopedia page, which I personally found hilarious.

What does make sense, though, would be to move them back to the Self Demonstrating namespace instead of their "joke" namespaces (which I just did), and also deleting Main/IAmGroot because it only exists for the sake of a one-off, hard-to-spot joke. Everyone so far has objected to the joke namespaces, so they were pretty easy to change back (they're redirects now).

The next one might be easier to see.

How well does it match the trope?
