Aleph, God of Deicide (Hawk, Hiriji)

  • Overdeity
  • Symbol: Two Guns and a Katana
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good
  • Portfolio: Artificial Messiah, Pure, concentrated BADASSITUDE, Deicide, Dreadful Musician, Designer Babies, One-Man Army, Big Freaking Sunglasses,
  • Domains: Deicide
  • Allies: Lucifer, Flynn, Naoki, Raidou Kuzunoha
  • Enemies: YHVH
  • Freed from the curse YHVH laid on him with His dying breaths when Raidou Kuzunoha fulfilled his destiny, acting as the 'spark' to make sure YHVH never took power, and thus the events that led up to Aleph getting cursed never happened.
  • His name commands utmost reverence amongst any who have declared YHVH their enemy: Aleph is one of the few, if only people Lucifer will defer to.
  • Despite the fact his involvement in the Pantheonic Rebellion would guarantee victory for the Rebels, Aleph wants nothing to do with it: after spending untold centuries as Hiriji, forced to watch the destruction and rebirth of countless worlds, unable to interfere with any of them, he's declared himself officially retired. The Forces of Law gave a collective sigh of relief. Lucifer doesn't seem too mind: he has a good couple of generals willing to fight YHVH, and given the proper motivation, Aleph may very will jump back into the fray...
  • Utterly unintimidated by his reputation, Aleph came terrifying close to defeating Beerus in a dance-off, an outcome that would have had terrifying consequences for the whole of the Pantheon: he failed when Vegeta blasted him from behind and knocked him unconscious. Having to deal with Vegeta's scolding and Beerus's gloating/threats when he woke up, Aleph swore revenge on both of them.

I was thinking of adding The Batter from Off somewhere. Thought he'd make a fine God of Dark Messiahs. That position is occupied, but the current God's entry is... not very long...

Any other suggestions from fellow Off fans? Maybe in the Ambiguity section as the God of Destructive Saviors?

Hm... a proposal here. I dunno, since I haven't watched Higurashi so I may be suffering a Fan Myopia. But... Oyashiro-sama being the deity for Corrupt Church while being UNHAPPY about it... That doesn't kinda... make sense, don't ya think? I was thinking of giving Oyashiro-sama's Corrupt Church portfolio (Oyashiro can keep the Hate Plague though, but it may involve moving houses) into another group which would've been a fitting add...

The Glabados Church. Or the beings behind them, The Lucavi. Not sure how it goes, but we'll decide later. I'll explain why I'll pick these guys as the Corrupt Church rep.

This is the group that managed to fool people for centuries with a religion that's disturbingly close to modern Christianity, only hiding the fact that the truth is their 'Jesus' figure was instead evil, while their 'Judas' figure is more noble, then corrupting and twisting the truth so they'd look a lot more benevolent and gathering many followers, in which they're way too happy to admit their followers (unlike Oyashiro who's disturbed with the 'following'). And, oh, did someone finally tried to uncover the truth (e.g: Simon & Orran)? BLASPHEMERS! GET THEM DEAD! Oh, and did someone kill your God (Ramza)? MARK HIM AS THE HERETIC FOR CENTURIES TO COME!

Only after centuries that these truths came to light, and then Ramza and the others were cleaned off their 'hereticism'. But I think it fits so well that the Glabados Church, or the Lucavi that created them, embodies what a Corrupt Church means. I mean, they're perverting every sense of definition a benevolent church and religion has, and not enough to become a Religion of Evil because they can cover it like a normal church, and they held such status for centuries instead of getting exposed so quickly. Melkor would be most interested with these guys, and you have two Gods here hailing from the Ivalice-verse (the aforementioned Ramza Beoulve, and Vagrant Story's Ashley Riot) that might oppose them.

So... what do you say, guys?

... What? Before I agree to your comment, please tell me if you know anything about Final Fantasy Tactics. First of all, Glabados Church is an 'organization' or 'group'. The Lucavi is also a group of demons, not just one man. And you haven't even said on how they could take up the Corrupt Church from Oyashiro-sama based on Higurashi knowledge.

... I'm REALLY going to need more input this way.

I DO know about Higurashi, but my memory's a little rusty. I, for one do not think that Oyashiro (Hanyuu) should be there. Hanyuu would never do any acts of torture. Not to mention, she wanted to sacrifice herself to atone for the sins of the Hinimizawa villagers int the past.

And as for Final Fantasy Tactics, it is true... That I do not know jack.

Well at least in terms of Higurashi knowledge, you'd supply just fine. But I still need input from another.

Good improvement, at least.

I agree about the Church of Glabados. I never played Vagrant Story, but the fact that Ramza is also in Pantheon is interesting. Also agree about Hanyuu being bad representive for Corrupt Church. I mean, as far as I remember, she herself has nothing to do with it. And a little unrelated, but it bugs me that her picture spoils both her being female and her being Hanyuu despite those facts being under spoiler in the article.

For the moment, I'm moving Oyashiro into Otherness House because 'Hatred' as an Emotion already has a deity there.

I think we're arguing about the wrong trope. Lucavi better represent Path of Inspiration than Corrupt Church.

Path of Inspiration: Evil religion that is disguised as a good religion.

Corrupt Church: Religion started with good intentions, but goes horribly wrong via bastardization. Deity in charge is NOT happy about it.

Hey, I dunno about this, but... I think Inori/Cure Pine being the rep for Japanese Christian seems off. I know I've watched Fresh Precure and her religion issue was rarely even shown, so getting her as a Japanese Christian is a bit off (hell, as much as he's probably a perversion of the trope, Amakusa Shiro Tokisada fits even better than Buki). Even if her Catchphrase is "I have faith"... well, it just doesn't fit her.

You know where she fits in? Speaks Fluent Animal. Her animal issues came up a lot more than her Christianity. The seat is empty too. However... there's a lot that could fit more. So anyone mind if I move Buki's place to the House of Beast as the Goddess for Animal-Speak?

EDIT: Okay that was in. But damn it, troy. You could at least inform me first.

In case anyone's wondering about all the spoiler tags on Oyashiro, its because the true gender is considered a MAJOR spoiler.

Several topics to be discussed in order to fill in some more tropes to increase the size of this house.

1. Ideas for god of Paladins. I'm thinking Flynn Scifo

2. Religion of Evil

3. Sinister Minister

4. Bad Ass Preacher

4. Good Shepherd

5. Path of Inspiration

6. Saintly Church

7. Scam Religion

8. Heel–Faith Turn

9. Faith–Heel Turn

4: Alexander Anderson? "If anyone does not love the Lord, Jesus Christ, let him be accused, oh Lord come, AMEN."

May 9th 2012 at 9:14:41 PM •••

If you can build a good portfolio for him, go ahead and add him.

May 9th 2012 at 10:37:50 PM •••

Okay! Even if I haven't watched Hellsing, let's see how I can do Anderson. Anyone who does know Hellsing is obliged to improve the stuffs.

Alexander Anderson, God of Kicking Ass In The Name Of Lord (Father Anderson)

One thing we do is that I think the last portion in Anderson's flavor texts is nearing Jesus Taboo, but I don't know who can replace Jesus there without incurring Anderson's wrath.

Aand... for The Paladin... mind if we use Keldorn Firecam instead? Dude's a rockin' Paladin who manages to avoid the common fallings of Paladins, and even got a Dying Moment of Awesome by having the resident Justice God lift him up personally to his side.

Sure. After all, it would be a fitting tribute if the god of paladins came from the Trope Codifier. I'm assuming you mean Tyr by Justic God right?

May 11th 2012 at 12:11:34 AM •••

Yeah. I meant Tyr. Still, not sure if I'd say Keldorn is a Trope Codifier, he just is seen as an example on how Paladins avoid the common fallings when roleplaying a Paladin...

Also my take on Anderson?

The Anderson one is good to go. What I meant by codifier is that the source material (Dungeons And Dragons) is the codifer for paladins.

May 11th 2012 at 3:06:56 PM •••

And Keldorn isn't the original Dungeons And Dragons paladin (hell, BG-wise, he's not the first Paladin, Ajantis is), so he's not the Trope Codifier.

May 12th 2012 at 10:14:09 PM •••

Since there's two votes for him, a portfolio for Keldorn seems appropiate. Updated my list.

This house is quite new being less than a month old, which is the reason for the small size. The idea was originally intended as a solution to the nasty overcrowding in the house of heroes and villains due to a major bout of Square Trope Round House syndrome. As of now, said house is at over 92% capacity which is justifiable cause for alarm. Alas, Exploding Frogs undermined much of my work at attempting to correct the problem, much like he was in opposistion to the house of combat when the house of war became overcrowded.

I added Artix Von Kreiger from Adventure Quest Worlds as God of Paladins because in reality he is actually the (spoiler: Champion of Darkness but raised to fight off undead as an Undead Slayer) and vows to use his powers for good. He also has the ability to free all the souls of the undead and any soul that has been freed cannot be brainwashed again.

Type the word in the image. This goes away if you get known.

The next one might be easier to see.

How well does it match the trope?
