Actually, the use of R-Security at all possibly hints at the darker part of the Plastic Memories world. Private security firms like Blackwater are steeped in controversy. But even so, they only engage in what would be considered defensive measures (with the possible exception of war zones; don't know how extensive their operations were in Afganistan and Iraq). In Plastic Memories they are able to cordon off a large residential/commmercial section of a city in a 1st World country no where near a combat zone; conduct an operation to take down a black market facility in that same zone; and finally, in the flashback, engage in combat with civilians in the fire zone. No government police force answerable to elected politicians, no judges signing warrants, little to no care about collateral damage. What kind of place is this?

There exists a software destruction gun that implants a virus to immediately shut down a Wanderer. So why is R-Security loaded out with only high powered military grade (from what I can tell) rifles? Maybe when they're storming the black market facility, but just taking down a Wanderer? How many innocent humans (and Giftia) have been wounded or killed as they empty their magazines? In the flashback they didn't show a lot of fire discipline, or were bothered that 2 civilians, one a minor, were on the scene and potentially in the line of fire.
