Just to be clear, are cases where the soul stealer kills the victim through "conventional" means (i.e. dagger to the heart) and then claims the soul Type II or type I Ib?
Hide / Show RepliesLike using animal souls to enchant items in the Elder Scrolls series and the Dragonborn's specific ability to absorb the souls of the dragons he or she slays.
Would it be alright to change the page picture to Shang Tsung? Not necessary at all, but I think it'd be a nice touch.
This troper thinks there was a Type 2B in the "Grimm Fairy Tales" comic: the "Puss In Boots" fairy-tale story took place in Egypt, and a young female thief had to kill others to use their souls to energize a cat statue which in return gave her wealth and power; when she failed, she got killed as well. In the "real-world" story, a young woman conspired to kill her rich aunt when same statue made appearance; she gets killed by the aunt, her youth and beauty are stolen by the aunt, and her body is dumped into a pit to be covered over in the morning by a construction crew. This allows the aunt, now revitalized, to impersonate the niece she told a handsome young musician about who wanted some guitar lessons (to go with a guitar she planned on giving the niece).
Does simply being the ruler of an afterlife plane count?
