Pokemon example probably should go under yellow and blue. at least where the anime is concerned. I've noticed that all Gen1 and 2 Electric Types use yellow lightning. while all Gen3 and Gen4 Electric Types use Blue lightning unless related to a Gen1 or 2 Pokemon. Gen 5 and 6 Pokemon use yellow again unless related to a Gen3 or 4 Pokemon.
though also in the games all Electric type attacks use the color yellow.
