To that last example in the real life section, I want to note that the two reasons are probably interconnected. A lot of men understand that women are most likely doing this to bypass the long lines, but men that do this often have... more malicious intentions.

Are you kidding? Due to irrational fears of ever sitting on public toilet seats, it's not uncommon for women to hover above one like a alien flying saucer from the planet Wee-Wee and spray all over the seat.
I have heard many stories of women's restrooms in my day. Zero of them have been pleasant.
