You know, it just hit me: Are there any examples of bees that would qualify as Evil Virtues-style subversion of this trope?

Meaning orderly, structured, hardworking and cooperative but in a Lawful Evil rather than Lawful Good sort of way? I haven't a clue, but that's a pretty interesting idea. I don't see any issue with adding any examples of it if they turn up, although pedantically speaking it seems more a subversion than a strict aversion.

... That's what I said: subversion, not aversion.

Speaking of which, what would an aversion be?

... damn, I horribly misread that.

An aversion would be... hmm, I suppose a bee not being treated in any moralistic way — just being an animal or a person in the world. Bees being simply evil or malicious would be an inversion, I think.
