I speak of acceptability of Example As Thesis in certain contexts as an opinion. Certain tropes have to be described in terms of who does what and giving those whos generic names (and Alice and Bob are as generic as it can get) makes it much more straightforward. Whether general principles trump specific convenience is an opinion.
Now that Eievie has restored the Alice and Bob form of the article, I feel myself vindicated three years after I was forced to mutilate the original YKTTW
because Larkmarn and captainpat felt it was a case of Example As Thesis. :D
