I am surprised that there is not a cynical flavour D, in which you arrive in the Promised Land, and enjoy it for a day or so, and then discover that it is already occupied, and the current occupants promptly evict you.

What about when the Promised Land is actually completely average, normal land? I'm thinking Salt Lake City and the like.
