For those upset about the mass deletions: 99% of examples were based on a misreading of the trope's old title, "Reality Ensues". If the "reality" of "reality ensues" was interpreted as the work's reality (instead of the real world that you, the reader, currently live in, as was intended), then literally everything that ever happens in a story could be described as "reality ensues". "Literally anything happens" is, obviously, not a very good trope, even (or especially) if it lets people gush about how "realistic" their favorite show is.
Hide / Show Replies... A number of works pages containing examples that legitimately fell under either this or another trope just disappeared entirely, though, with there no longer being a way to find where those examples might have gone or if they even belonged anywhere. That seems rash, even though there was significant misuse.
"That's ridiculous. What would a walrus do with a magic bag?" Pokeamidathankfully wayback has the original entries like the one for One Piece: https://pastebin.com/AZDNRSa2
Thank you! I should check on that when I have the energy.
"That's ridiculous. What would a walrus do with a magic bag?" PokeamidaWhy do we not have a separate page for DC Comics, since we have a whole page for Marvel Comics?
Hide / Show RepliesA lot of the examples on the Marvel page are probably going to be removed eventually, since this trope has a massive misuse problem. If there's anything left, it won't be enough to have its own subpage.
Late, but needs to be posted here: The definition was tightened at this 2021-2022 TRS discussion.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness Hide / Show RepliesWhat a mature and reasonable response.

Macron's notesStill, One Piece needs an updated entry. Especially since the series is reaching the endgame.
Edited by xelldxHow the Transformers Franchise doesn't have a page for this trope? I think there are plenty of examples in not just Live Action Films and Western animation but also comics and Anime as well. When the Transformers Franchise get page of their own?
For a topic unrelated to the name of this trope, here's something I posted on the page for Game of Thrones. I'm copying it over here (with one small edit) since I didn't get any responses there:
Some of the examples don't seem all that realistic:
"Davos was right that the North, for all their loyalty, won't fight against the Boltons for a desperate cause." As noted under this series' Adaptation-Induced Plot Hole page, the North also refused to help Stannis fight the Boltons even when he outnumbered them.
"Tyrion logically assumes that taking Casterly Rock — the home base of the mines and thus the source of the Lannister riches — will be a blow to the family." That's because it should be a major blow, if only to the morale of the Lannister cause. Theon's capture of Winterfell earlier in the series was a major factor in Robb's defeat, after all. This is again noted in more detail on the Adaptation-Induced Plot Hole page.
"The battle as a whole is a great demonstration of Hollywood Tactics and why they don't work." - The question is why they're using Hollywood Tactics in the first place, when the commanders of the living side include many experienced with war, some of them specifically experienced with war against the White Walkers?
"Throughout all of Season 8, Sansa and the rest of the North are hostile to Daenerys despite Jon bending the knee to her." This makes little sense after Daenerys has helped the North fight off the White Walkers. At least some of the Northern lords should consider changing their minds and approaching Daenerys for friendly relations. Them not doing so makes them look extremely ungrateful.
Something about the increased syllables of the new name rankles me but I don’t understand why, cause that feeling didn’t happen when those “everything’s x with...” snowclones got unslowcloned and the new trope names much shorter.
I got my political views from reddit and that's badI think we may need to revamp exactly what counts as a SURPRISINGLY realistic outcome. Because while a lot of these are realistic… not many of them come off as surprising. The Pokémon section just got a massive deletion of examples because of this conundrum.
I don't know if this is warranted, but I personally think this trope should be renamed again, with my own suggestion being "Reality Check" - not only is it more succinct, but there's so many cases now of a realistic outcome happening rather than an unrealistic one that something like that can no longer be considered surprising.
On a related note, does anyone else besides me think there should also be a trope page for when this trope is played for comedy? Like "Hilarious Reality" or something?
Edited by Geosternbergia Hide / Show RepliesReality Check sounds a lot better actually, but the one thing that I'm concerned about is that even IF we change the name, the trope will still be misused which is what caused the name change to begin with. On your related note, I think that "Hilarious Reality" would just fall under Played for Laughs with the Reality Ensues trope.
If we wanted to cut the other way we may as well reevaluate the use of "Ensues" in trope titles

So, if, say, a Trapped in Another World story involving a protagonist from the wastelands ends with the demons said protagonist has kept fighting grabbing what few nukes weren't fired during World War III and trying to use them, only for said nukes to merely end up as low-yield dirty bombs, if even that, because it turns out these nukes were not Ragnarok-proof at all and have decayed and gathered rust for a few decades
