They do this with the mayor in Nut Job 2. Overlapped with, whatever the trope for corrupt politicians is called.

What, precisely, does the page quote have to do with the trope? The quote is from a Primus song, "My Name is Mud" - the character in the music video is a janitor, not a redneck. Even if you assume, though, that the titular Mud is a hick, what about him makes him a corrupt hick?

This appears to be stretching the definition into Square Peg Round Trope — being backward and malevolent isn't quite it. It's more a big fish in a small pond: an authority figure in a backwater who is corrupt and out of control.

  • The entire town of Hackdirt in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, although they aren't corrupt hicks as much as they are Ax-Crazy hicks (by way of Lovecraft).
