Okay, I got here using a link from Grave Of The Fireflies, and...yeah, really doesn't fit. What happens when the creator of a work is actually saying "okay, I suck"? Because that's what I thought Take That, Me was about, not comedy.

Also, is it okay if someone removes the Grave Of The Fireflies example? Because this is explicitly a comedy trope.

It was still here after Take That Me became a redirect, so I was worried about stepping on people's toes. But fair enough.

First question still stands, though.

Didn't this used to be called "Take That Us"? Why was it changed to Self Deprecation? Or am I imagining things?

That was always a redirect. I think the ykttw was Take That Me, but it was noted that the current name is the actual term for this.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.
