Wait, is this page implying that it's confirmed that the Mario 64 statue was supposed to say "L is real 2401" and not "Eternal Star"? Because I've seen entries elsewhere that say the exact opposite.

It's never been confirmed what the plaque actually says (or if it even says anything at all for that matter). That entry was nothing but Fan Wank (and worded rather obnoxiously at that), which is NOT what this trope is about. I went ahead and deleted it.

Just wanted to say that when I first did the YKTTW on Call-Back, I sort of meant this trope (although rather constricted to the story of a franchise than to a company) rather than the way it's used now - well, that's Wiki Magic for ya!
