As with all Our X Are Different tropes, it's up to the creator of the fiction. As for the fairies of mythology, they either breed with humans, or just come into being as a result of the terrain, Genus Loci and all. As far as modern fairies, the ruling would likely be, they have mammary glands, thus mammals, thus, birthing process. Egg laying fictional humanoids are usually as a result of wanting symbols of motherhood in their Pink Bishōjo Ghetto without alluding to the facts of life.

I added Adaptational Nonsapience and Adaptational Wimp to Harry Potter's fairies, because fairies of classic folklore are fully sapient, and ridiculously overpowered.

Fairies in the Spyro games are allies that save your progress and perform other tasks. And are all female.

Fairies being portrayed as non-sapient counts as "AdaptationalNonsapience" right?

So I know that there are 2 Fairy Courts, the Seelie and the Unseelie Court. So, basically, both Courts might be ruled by some King and/or Queen, right? So are Oberon, Gloriana, Titania, Mab part of one of those Courts? If not, then what rulers are really present in those Courts?
