Nonsense. Nibbler’s shadow has always been in the pilot, and you see either Nibbler’s or Fry’s shadow in flashbacks, except in Anthology of Interest I, because that was a what-if episode in which Fry didn’t fall into the freezer.

Not only do the creators confirm in the commentary that Nibbler’s shadow was always there, somebody even checked a recording of the original airing.
Re the Futurama entry: Nibbler's shadow was NOT in the first episode. It is now, it's been added, but when the same scene appears in other flashbacks in other episodes, it's not there.
