Why should being an Aline inherently contradict being a god? Both gods and Angels do in fact fit the literal definition of both Alien and Extraterrestrial.
Hide / Show RepliesIt is the Magic Versus Science trope in play. There is a sort of historical tradition that "gods" are supernatural (i.e. magical beings) and that "miracles" are magical in nature. Of course, in history, many people believed that the supernatural was an integral part of the world and natural law. The Bible does not actually say that God's powers are "magic", and indeed it could be argued that they are not since, being God, all He is doing is manipulating the forces of nature, which is what science and technology does.
That "Heaven" and "Hell" can simply fall under the category of Another Dimension and that deities and angels might simply be extradimensional aliens reads as too "scientific" for most people to accept them as explanations for the divine, which is supposed to be magical.
