In the KOTOR example really a true example of this trope? Their neutrality is portrayed as necessary for them due to the potential of their planet being an important target of conquest or destruction if they sided with the other, since colto is so important. And the "backlash" is pretty unrelated to their neutrality. It was not a punishment for it and I would more place that as a case Crippling Overspecialisation.

I'd probably say it's something like a Zig Zagged or Double Subverted trope as both sides insist that this won't last and that Manaan should pick a side but it's ultimately economics that lead to their downfall instead of neutrality

Vichy France: Neutral or no? It strikes me as Allies -> occupied territory -> government cooperating with Axis -> really occupied territory.
