What Art Thee removed bands based on his/her personal opinion. That's a very rude thing to do, this kind of thing should be discussed before removal, as most those bands removed were highly influential to metal and are of often labeled as such. I will restore them if no one minds.

And did they just remove Deep Purple, Blue Cheer, and Led Zeppelin? The three bands most influential to metal after Sabbath?

Literally the only band that he/she removed that was actually arguably heavy metal was Crush 40. Being influential to heavy metal doesn't automatically make you metal. If that were the case, then we might as well include Richard Wagner in the list just because he influenced heavy metal despite being a classical composer from long before even rock'n'roll was a thing.

I thought Deep Purple was second only to Black Sabbath in terms of influence, and even the Metal Archives (a website that I don't hold in particularly high regard, but still) has them on there. And isn't Blue Cheer considered the first American Heavy Metal band?

Actually, yeah. Deep Purple is actually also arguably heavy metal, but as far as I have seen, next to no one has said claimed that Blue Cheer is the first true heavy metal band.

Time to explain:

- AC/DC is Hard Rock

- Aerosmith is Hard Rock

- Blue Cheer is heavier Psychedelic Rock, very influential on metal, but not metal themselves

- Crush 40 is Hard Rock

- Deep Purple is Hard Rock

- GNR is Hard Rock/Hair Metal

- Iron Butterfly is Psychedelic Rock, again, influential, but not really that heavy

- KISS is Hard Rock

- Led Zeppelin was a major influence, but again, not metal themselves

You Metalheads and your categories. :P Let the Metal purists have their say, I guess. No harm, no foul, really- at least the influence is being acknowledged. Not that something being Metal or not is any indicator of quality anyways...
