Given the comment I'm not sure if this still Real Life example relates to Master Computer.

  • The U.S. military created ArpaNet, which later became the Internet, specifically to prevent any one computer failure from crippling the country's armed forces.
    • The design was more about dealing with unreliable communication channels and the sharing of information across them. Key military computers were and still are isolated for security reasons.
