Er, no offence to the character portrayed in the image, but he's not exactly well known. Surely Scooby and Shaggy should be the poster boys for this trope!

The point is not how well-known the character is, or whether he's the best-known example of the trope, it's how well the specific picture illustrates the trope for somebody who doesn't know the trope already.
The current image shows a character who looks both lovable and cowardly, and that's what matters.
(That said, if you know where to find a picture of Scooby and Shaggy looking both lovable and cowardly...)
