Does it still count as a pun in this case? A person who likes books turning into a literal worm (or wyrm) might be, but the figure of speech originates with a belief in an actual worm eating its way through books. They were wrong about it being a worm, but is it a pun or more of a Literal Metaphor?

I could go either way on this. Mostly just curious.

I seem to remember a rat from tale of desperaux eats books even though the titular character would prefer he read them. Would he qualify? It said this trope is only for worms, but since he doesn't really read them the standard Bookworm trope doesn't fit either. It does seem too relevant to pass up entirely, however.

It seems like it might, but I'm not familiar enough with the example to say whether it's intentional or not. Something like Ingesting Knowledge (if he absorbs any actual information from it) or Bizarre Taste in Food might fit better.
