This example follows the title, but nothing else about the trope:

• Not an example from a musical: Many of J.S. Bach's cantatas, especially his chorale cantatas, have last movements that are much slower and simpler than the rest of the cantata. A particularly praised example is the last movement of ''Herr, gehe nicht ins Gericht'' (BWV 105), in which the violin part gradually slows down to a complete stop, representing one's initial fear of death and judgement and the final calmness of remembering that Jesus Christ has saved all who believe in him and that there is eternal life after death.
