The section covering Disney Channel comes off as pretty creepy considering it specifically mentions older men lusting after underaged actresses.
Hide / Show RepliesI saw that example and... yeah, it could use some rewriting. It's very bloated anyway, mentioning almost every actress who worked for the channel. Feel free to rewrite that part to eliminate the unnecessary stuff. It's very important to remind tropers about No Lewdness No Prudishness and Brevity Is Wit.
135 - 158 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300- Super Smash Bros.. was originally just a platformer-fighting game hybrid with generic characters, but marketing said it wouldn't sell, so they added Nintendo characters and began a series full of mostly Pandering to the Base. To this day, most of the appeal comes not from the fighting and deep single player modes, but for the chance to have Mario fight Pikachu or see Zelda kick Link's ass.
- The advertising was completely aware of this.
- ...okay, almost all of this series' appeal comes from the fighting. No other game plays like it. If it's all about people seeing their franchise heroes fight each other, why do R.O.B. or Ice Climbers or Fox get so much play? Who the hell has even played Starfox in the last decade, let alone the others?
So is it because of the appeal of Nintendo characters fighting, or is it because it's actually a good, original fighter?
Why is the "Compare with" trope Mr. Fanservice (and Estrogen Bait Brigade, but it's now under Mr. Fanservice) listed and not Ms. Fanservice? Seems a bit sexist to me to think only women would want to read something just for a hot guy and not vice versa.
There are women on the internets, yes.
Some more examples that I probably won’t add because they’re more personal but I still want to share:
Any Namco Museum game: For your favorite arcade game’s port. I bought the notoriously bad Namco Museum Remix just so I could play Mappy.
Scribblenauts Showdown: For the “Medieval Mayhem!” minigame. It’s like Scribblenauts Smash Bros.
Boxboy and Boxgirl! and Part Time UFO: Because HAL Labs made them, and they also made Kirby.
Any app game based on a series you like: Because it’s related to that series. Pokémon Shuffle gave me a free Shiny Mewtwo for being the only one who still plays the game.
